Jeans Pockets – As Large Or Small As You Like
Jeans are an undeniable part of American fashion culture. There are certain criteria that was set long ago to determine good quality jeans one of those criteria was the number of jeans pockets that the pants had.
A good pair of jeans was considered a pair that had five pockets in the jeans. Two slit type pockets in the front with a small change pocket above one of the slits and two pockets in the back. This is still true today, very rarely will you find a pair of designer jeans that has not kept true to this formula.
Style of Jeans Pockets
Although most all of the pockets are cut the same on most pairs of jeans there are some subtle detailing differences. The differences lie primarily in the stitching in and around the pockets.
In order for a designer to distinguish their jeans from the crowds they use different types of stitching to subtly decorate their jeans. Some designers will get even more flamboyant with their designs by adding zippers and buttons to the jeans pockets.
Adding unusual stitching, zippers or buttons adds a certain designer touch to the jeans. This allows the designers to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary.
Functions
The pockets that you find on blue jeans are not only fashionable but they are functional as well. Although you will not find many fashionistas stuffing their pockets with anything, most folks find them to be completely convenient to carry a bevy of items.
There was a time during the nineteen fifties when young men used their pockets to carry simple black line combs, it actually became a necessary fashion item to have a comb tucked neatly into the back pocket of your jeans along with a hanky handing out neatly folded from the back pocket.
Today largely gone are the black combs and hanky’s but the wallets in most men’s jeans are still firmly in place. After all blue jeans were actually developed as a pants to be worn by workmen, so the pockets played a huge roll in their design. If there were no jeans pockets where would a man keep his wallet?
The number of jeans pockets are a sign of well made pants, their function is evident and their styling can dictate the style of the pants. One would never think that something so simple could have such a huge effect on fashion.
